Join Merle's Wish in Making a Difference
On the 2nd of September 2023, we successfully hosted our first inaugural five-a-side football event. It was heartwarming to see 84 football players come together at the Cleobury Mortimer Sports Field over the August bank holiday weekend. This event holds a special place in our hearts, and we hope it will become an annual tradition to support our cause.
In addition to the football tournament, we auctioned off signed football memorabilia and VIP horse racing experiences to raise funds. Thanks to the generosity and support of all those involved, we managed to raise over £3,000! These funds will be crucial in helping individuals with terminal illnesses cover the costs of transportation for important hospital appointments.
Lisa, Merle’s daughter, emphasized the importance of these funds, stating, "We believe that the funds raised will help around 60 people to attend life-saving treatment appointments. Many people assume that the NHS covers the expenses of hospital visits, but that's not always the case. For those with low incomes or no family support, affording taxis or other forms of transport can be incredibly challenging. With these funds, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those who need it the most."
We are currently in the process of formally registering the charity, which will enable us to apply for grants and secure additional funding to continue our mission of providing support to individuals battling terminal illnesses.
